About Me

I am a freelance writer and photographer. I specialise in feature writing and associated photography, as well as commercial and SEO copywriting, within the outdoor industry. I am passionate about the outdoors which is where I spend most of my free time. I am also passionate about writing and photography. So, I do write features in many other areas and I offer commercial copywriting and SEO services to all industries.

I write two blogs which comprise the Journeyman series - the journeyman traveller and the journeyman freelancer. In both, I write about the two primary passions in my life, and how I have turned them into my professional life as well. My aim, with both, is to help beginners, enthusiasts and even professionals who read either blog to improve, to stay informed and to learn from my past mistakes, and my successes, as I continue to gain proficiency in my freelance professional life. As I spend more and more time learning, the Journeyman series becomes enriched with that experience.

I have nearly 13 years experience as a barrister and therefore communication, written and oral, has been my primary area of expertise for well over a decade. I have spent every waking moment of my professional career meeting the challenge of taking complex material and translating it into a language easily understood by others or, whilst under pressure, persuading others to my client’s case. As a consequence, I am vastly experienced in assimilating unfamiliar information, understanding it and interpreting it for others in a way that is compelling. Whether it be for the purposes of a feature, or commercial copywriting, I adapt my writing to suit the audience. Words have been my primary tool for a very long time.
